For many years, scientists believed androgenetic alopecia was caused by testosterone but recent findings suggest that it’s actually dihydrotestosterone, or DHT, that maybe the root of the problem. While women have low levels of testosterones and DHT, even a small fraction of a raise in DHT levels can trigger hair loss in women.
